A sedation dentist is a dentist that has received additional state certification that will allow them to sedate their anxious patients in an office environment. The fact that they can offer a sedative to a patient before a dental procedure is enough to lure many people that would normally avoid the dentist. These people don’t want to remember much about the dental procedure and need help in relaxing so they can get through it. With the sedatives being given, the dentists can get the procedure done as quickly as possible and the patient can shed their anxiety long enough to have it done.
