Web Audiences Need Well Written Copy

In many ways, web copywriting is for the internet the same thing as flyers and billboards are for traditional businesses. The whole point of having an internet presence, just like the whole point of having a storefront, is to get customers to come to your site and do whatever it is they do that earns you a profit. Every business is different. Some offer services, some sell products, and some, like dating sites or social areas, offer less tangible benefits in exchange for their customers’ money, but every business needs customers to actually find it in order to make money. Paying a teenager to stand out on a corner wearing a rubber chicken on his head apparently works for brick and mortar stores as a way to attract customers, at least based on what I’ve seen around town it must, but web customers need something a little more sophisticated, like a well written piece of copy that engages their attention and gives them reasons to look at what you have to offer.
